Twitter the blog killer

Blogs take a hit when there’s Twitter…

Status updates on Facebook, and the business networking sites such as LinkedIn, can be cumbersome in busy working week – even a bit tedious. A full blog entry can be even harder to face. Twitter, with its haiku-inspired 140 character limit, is often the easy answer.

Longer than a status update and shorter than a full entry, this micro-blogging format might just be perfect (for those in a rush). The ease and attraction of Twitter, especially with several good iPhone applications to help, has become the flavour of buzz marketing and instant news. Exitlog has certainly suffered in its wake. Other blogs surely must be feeling the pinch as well.

Tweets ahoy

Irreverent comment, self-promoted fame or neither…

In an effort to communicate with greater recency I’ve joined the Twittersphere. As micro-blogging goes I’m hopeful that the updates will be more interesting than those of the Facebook crowd. There is only so much you can get out of “[whoever] and [someone else] are now friends”; or the more exciting status update where some friend deftly comments on their own photo.
